15 YEAR-OLD ZACH VEACH TO MAKE HISTORY IN 2010 AS YOUNGEST DRIVER EVER IN ATLANTIC CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
2 Year Alliance announced with respected team owner, mentor Eric Jensen
ORLANDO, Fl. (December 11, 2009) – Zach Veach, of Stockdale, Ohio, will make history in 2010 as the youngest ever driver in the 37 year-old open-wheel Atlantic Championship Series (ACS) through an alliance for the 2010 and 2011 campaigns with respected team owner Eric Jensen, of Jensen MotorSport, Inc.
The official announcement was made during the 23rd annual Performance Racing Industry Show, held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
Veach, who turned 15 on December 9, formed the partnership of his ADS/Secur-IT-Vault-backed entry with Canadian-based Jensen, a previous driver and longtime team owner.
Jensen, who fielded a top three ACS team in 2009, and received Team Owner of the Year honors for recent and past achievements, has successfully coached the likes of open-wheel stars including Jonathan Summerton, Jonathan Edwards, plus 2008 ACS Champion, Markus Niemela, among others.
“I’m obviously excited about the opportunity to launch my professional racing career with one of the great team owners and instructors in Eric Jensen,” began Veach, a 5-foot tall, 100-pound many time shifter kart winner, regional record-holder and divisional champion.
“When my father (Roger Veach) and I studied his past accomplishments and the respect he has within motor racing, we agreed that Eric was more than a logical consideration. He was absolutely the right choice.”
“Since the age of five I’ve dreamed of racing on the great race circuits of the United States – and ultimately winning the Indianapolis 500,” he continued. “With our newly formed team with Mr. Jensen, this incredible journey is about to begin.
Zach, whose nickname is “Ziggy”, will compete in his first-ever race on March 19, 2010, ironically at historic Sebring International Raceway, in Sebring, Florida.
“I’ve indeed been lucky and often privileged to coach upcoming drivers who strive to become tomorrow’s open-wheel stars,” said Jensen from his Toronto, Ontario office. “Every so often, an individual comes along that truly makes you stand up and take notice, with both the raw, God-given talent and desire that simply cannot be taught.
“From what I’ve already seen in several private tests at both Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Nevada, Zach might very well be one of America’s great next generation drivers,” he concluded.
