JMS Races Across the USA

September 21 , 2008

The Jensen MotorSport squad continued with their busy summer racing schedule, with two races in the Atlantic Championship Series in New Jersey and Utah.

First up was round #9 of the 2008 championship at the newly built New Jersey MotorSport Park, located 40 miles east of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The New Jersey complex is comprised of two road courses, with the Atlantic race being contested on the high-speed Thunderbolt configuration.

Henri Karjalainen once again piloted the team's #2 Rakennus sponsored Swift Atlantic car, recording an eventual15th place result. However Henri's finish did not represent well the effort, since two mid-race spins were the cause for a sub-par result. Below is a good photo of Henri's racing action against Greg Mansell.

Meanwhile, team owner Eric Jensen returned to Atlantic competition for his 2nd consecutive race. An off-course excursion during the race ended his day early, with the terrific photo below capturing the cause.

After the New Jersey race, the JMS team hurriedly packed up to dispatch it's transporter for the 2,500 mile trip across the USA to the Miller MotorSports Park circuit in Salt Lake City, Utah. Race #10 of the Atlantic Championship season was the following Sunday (September 21st), with on-track action commencing on Thursday (just 4 days after the New Jersey checkered flag waived).

At Salt Lake City, the JMS squad entered just one car for Henri Karjalainen, again driving the team's #2 Rakennus sponsored Swift Atlantic car. Henri showed good pace throughout the Utah event, finishing in an eventual 12th place, in a battle with cars in the 8th - 13th finishing positions. As has been the case often in the 2008 season, the race was green for the full distance. Henri was consistently setting times capable of finishing in the top 5, but the Atlantic competition this year is as ever of very high quality, so making passes is at a premium.

Next up for the JMS squad is the Road Atlanta series finale. For more details about the team, or to join us at the Road Atlanta series finale, e-mail us at team@jensenmotorsport.com
