For the first time since 2003, the teams and drivers of the Atlantic Series championship returned to racing action at the famous Trois-Rivieres street circuit.
Located 90 miles east of Montreal, Quebec; the city of Trois-Rivieres has impressive racing heritage especially as a venue for the Atlantic series championship. Past race champions include Gilles Villeneuve, Michael Andretti, and 2003 event winner A.J. Allmendinger.
For the racing historian, Trois-Rivieres also is one of few venues that can boast of Formula 1 drivers adding the Atlantic series races to their personal event schedules, as occurred regularly throughout the 1970's with famous
names as Patrick De Pailler, Didier Pironi, and James Hunt joining the series for one-offs.
In the 2008 edition of the Trois-Rivieres Grand Prix, the Jensen MotorSport team fielded two entries for Henri Karjalainen and Eric Jensen.
Finnish driver Karjalainen continued his progression in his rookie season in the Atlantic series, achieving a season best result of 10th place in the #2 GNLD sponsored Swift Mazda Cosworth.
In the team's #22 entry, team owner Eric Jensen returned to Atlantic series competition for the first time since the 2005 championship season. Jensen is a veteran of many years of competition in the Atlantic and Indy Lights categories, but has not raced full-time since the 2003 season. Jensen started 19th, and finished 15th.
The Jensen MotorSport team will next appear in the Atlantic Series championship at the new circuit in New Jersey on September 14th. In the meantime, the team is busy with driver development with our Formula BMW race cars at circuits in Montreal and Toronto.
