Jensen MotorSport took to the track in the first official Champ Car Atlantic series test of the 2008 season, at Sebring International Raceway, February 5th & 6th.
The team hasn’t finalized our driver deals for the 2008 season, but continued to test promising candidates. British driver Dillon Battistini sampled the Atlantic car for the first time in a one day test on February 5th. Dillon quickly moved into the low 59 second bracket in the morning session, which is impressive for a driver with no Atlantic experience. However, Dillon tired in the afternoon sessions still feeling the effects of a flu, and was unable to better his morning times.
On day two, reigning Australian F3 series champion Tim Macrow piloted the #2 Jensen MotorSport car. Tim tested for the team for one day in November, and was quickly back up to speed. Also, Brett Van Blankers from British Columbia Canada did 2 days of testing, his second stint with the Jensen MotorSport team.
With the recent discussions of merging the Champ Car and IRL series, Jensen MotorSport final plans will be somewhat delayed as we determine how this will affect the Atlantic series. But look for us back on track March 10th & 11th at the famous Laguna Seca road course in Monterey California, where we will hopefully have news of our 2008 driver line up and team sponsor roster. |
