Continuing to shape the direction of the Jensen MotorSport team, principal Eric Jensen is attending the Italian Grand Prix at Monza this weekend. Jensen has been discussing the team possibly fielding cars at the GP2 level in the coming year, especially as the Asian GP2 winter championship complements well the Champ Car spring & summer schedule. Jensen met with Formula 1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone at the US Grand Prix at Indianapolis in June, and this trip is a follow-up to see live the GP2 paddock and organizers.
En route to Italy, Jensen visited Sofia Bulgaria to attend a sports marketing event staged by former Red Bull F1 marketing director Klaus Lukas.
Jensen continues to believe that Champ Car provides the best option for corporate marketers seeking to leverage North America open-wheel racing to achieve their business objectives. These meetings to consider GP2 are a normal course of business, to determine the best direction for the Jensen MotorSport team for the future. Jensen fully expects to run 2 cars in the 2008 Champ Car Atlantic championship, and also to return to fielding cars full-time in the Formula BMW USA championship.
