Tom Sutherland had something of a break-through weekend at the Houston Grand Prix. Driving the #2 ClickAway Team Jensen car, Tom set the 5th fastest time in final qualifying, but was unfortunately not awarded the time due to a red flag being waved just seconds before crossing the timing line. So Tom had to start the race in 10th position based on his 2nd fastest lap. Tom held station in turn 1, battling throughout the race for a top 10 finish. While battling with Robert Wickens, Tom was caught out trying to pass lapped traffic. Tom hit the turn 2 exit kerb hard to avoid contact with the slower car, breaking his rear push rod, and ending his race. His 24th place classification certainly did not reflect how competitive Tom was at Houston.
Frankie Muniz – driving the #13 Chandler Team Jensen car – pushed hard all race to finish in 21st position. Muniz stated, “The pace of this race was incredible. After the early full course caution for the Lewis wreck, the track went green for over 40 minutes. I pushed as hard as I could all race, and had some good battles with Herberts and D’Agostino. For me, it was just a big accomplishment so early in my racing career that I could drive so hard for so long.”
The Jensen MotorSport team will return to the race shop in Montreal to prepare for some in-season testing in mid-May. Our next race is at Portland the weekend of June 10th.
