LAGUNA SECA TEST REVIEW

March 8, 2007

Jensen MotorSport unveiled it’s new team colors for the first time at a 2-day official series test at the Laguna Seca circuit in Monterey California on March 7th & 8th.

Tom Sutherland took to the track in his #2 ClickAway Team Jensen race car, finishing the test in an eventual 19th fastest (out of 28 cars). Tom (17) lives a one hour drive from the Laguna Seca circuit, in Los Gatos where he is a senior at Los Gatos High School. About the test, team engineer Adam Marchitto states “Tom made good progress during his 2 day test at Laguna Seca. This circuit is quite difficult with it’s very high-speed corners. Tom made good progress getting down to a best time of 1:17:7. We ended the test just ½ second from the top 10 times, and likely could have lowered our time in the last hour to be in the top 10, but Tom drove so much earlier in the test that he was simply worn out when he was going his quickest.”

Frankie Muniz had an eventful test in the #13 Chandler Team Jensen entry. Frankie started the test in a very strong 8th position after the first 90 minutes of driving with a time of 1:19:0; which shows how well Frankie is now at learning new circuits. In an uncommon twist, Frankie never again was able to improve or replicate that time. Team owner Eric Jensen states, “It’s quite odd that Frankie was unable to improve his first session times. He consistently improved his mid-corner minimum speeds in the fast sections of the circuit, but was unable to put it all together to make a quick lap.”

Dominick Muermans experienced several challenges during his two day test in the #22 car. Dominick made a mistake in a downshift while entering the pit lane, which required an extensive repair on the morning of the first test day. While pushing hard to make up for missed track time, Dominick made hard impact with the turn 6 wall in the afternoon session of the first day of the test. The race car sustained heavy damage, which again limited Dominick’s track time on the 2nd day of the test.

The team returns to the Montreal shop for final preparations in advance of the opening race of the 2007 season at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, April 6th – 8th.
