Round 10 of the Champ Car Atlantic Championship and rounds 11 and 12 of the Formual BMW Championship in Denver were not very kind to the Jensen MotorSport team and drivers.
After two strong top 10 finishes (4th and 8th) in San Jose and Edmonton the streets of Denver proved to be unlucky for Tim Bridgman and the Epson Team Jensen race car. Tim started the race in 18th and was moving his way up through the field when he was contacted from behind by another car after brushing the wall with his right rear tire mid-way through the race.
Ricardo Vassmer, driving the #22 Jensen MotorSport machine suffered a similar fate battling for 17th. Vassmer suffered a broken front wing and a bent front toe link which put him out of the race a few laps after Bridgman.
Frankie Muniz also had a tough weekend. After crashing early in morning practice, Frankie had little time to learn the track and as a result qualified near the back of the pack for Race1. Frankie managed to work his way up to 17th in the short race. In Race 2 Muniz was forced to retire after contact resulted in front end damage and him losing his front wing.
The Atlantic half of Team Jensen is now looking to turn its fortunes around at its hometown race in Montreal on August 27 while the FBMW team will be heading to Mosport near Toronto for Labour Day weekend for the final two races of the FBMW USA season. |
