Toronto is essentially the home race for Jensen MotorSport. And Epson Team Jensen had a major presence at the event, with Tim Bridgman driving the #2 Epson Team Jensen race car in the Champ Car Atlantic championship race on Sunday the 9th. Bridgman did a good job in qualifying, clocking the 7th fastest time. However an accident among the leaders in turn one collected an unfortunate Bridgman, who retired on the spot due to contact.
Meanwhile, team partner Epson was utilizing Jensen MotorSport's 2005 specification Toyota Atlantic race car in their promotional booth over the weekend to allow race fans to see an authentic race car, and have their photos taken with on the spot photo printing using Epson's PictureMate products. The race car was the #2 Epson Team Jensen race car driven by team principle to a 5th place finish in the 2005 Molson Indy Toronto; and by the number of photos taken over the three days, the fan response was very favorable.
Meanwhile, Jensen MotorSport development driver Manuel Gutierrez competed in the Formula Ford 2000 championship race at the Molson Grand Prix of Toronto. A true rookie, Gutierrez (16) was quick all weekend, starting in 10th position in race #1 on Saturday following a crash in Q1. Gutierrez finished an eventual 13th, but clocked the 7th fastest time to set his grid position of 7th position for race #2. Gutierrez made a good start in race #2, but also encountered a problem while attempting to overtake, causing front wing damage.
For sure our recent results have been better than what we experienced in Toronto this weekend, but the pace is there.
Next up is BMW testing with Frankie Muniz and Tom Sutherland in Salt Lake City in one week, followed by the Edmonton Grand Prix the weekend of July 23rd. |
