The hectic summer racing season started with our first double event weekend.
Tim Bridgman in the #2 Epson Team Jensen car competed in race #3 ChampCar Atlantic season at Monterrey, Mexico. Bridgman and the entire team did a terrific job, with Bridgman posting the 6th fastest time in qualifying in the ultra-competitive Atlantic field. Used only twice per year, the Monterrey road course circuit poses a unique challenge given it's low grip asphalt. However this type of circuit shows well Tim's amazing car control. Unfortunately a mechanical issue with the throttle linkage caused Bridgman to pit early in the race. Although he returned to the track 2 laps down, Bridgman decided to park the car later in the race when a points paying position was not in the offing, electing not to risk damage to the racecar.
Meanwhile, Frankie Muniz and David Farias took to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for Rounds #1 and #2 of the 2006 Formula BMW USA championship. Mother nature wreaked havoc on the race weekend, throwing a curveball at the two rookie pilots. Neither driver had much experence in driving racecars in wet weather, but did well to come through with 16th and 17th place finishes respectively in the Sunday feature race.
The team gets right back at it with Rounds #3 & #4 of the Formula BMW USA championship at Lime Rock Park Connecticut this coming weekend - May 26-29.
