Houston, Texas - 15 May 2006: The Fast Trac 100 at the Grand Prix of Houston did not offer-up an easy second round of the Champ Car Atlantic Championship for Dunmow's Tim Bridgman.
Technical issues marred both qualifying sessions for the Epson Team Jensen driver. A gear box problem meant Bridgman did not complete a qualifying lap in the second session, leaving him to start the race from 24th on the grid.
The race was action-filled and Bridgman benefited from a series of incidents, scampering up to 14th by mid-race.
Immediately following a restart with eights laps to go, Bridgman, running in 11th, poked his nose in to have look, but got caught in the dirty air of the car in front of him and his car slammed into the wall going into the start-finish straight.
The driver said he was disappointed by the premature end to his race. "Houston has been tough, there were mechanical problems in qualifying and the restarts made a meal of the race. It's a shame we weren't able to make more of the round."
This week the Champ Car Atlantic Championship has back-to-back races, with round three in Monterrey, Mexico, on Sunday, 21 May.
