In his first ever major professional car race, Steve Ott proved himself to be a very skilled driver with terrific maturity and self confidence.
Ott (24) piloted the #22 MSR Houston Team Jensen entry in the ChampCar Atlantic race to an impressive 7th place finish at the tricky Houston Grand Prix. The circuit was tight and bumpy, winding it's way through the parking lot adjacent to Reliant Stadium and the Astrodome. Ott was on pace all weekend, but struggled to put together a qualifying lap given the multiple red flags. However in the race, Ott showed well his pace by clocking the 12th fastest lap time, and carving his way up the order to finish in an eventual 7th postion.
MSR Houston Team Jensen owner Eric Jensen stated, "I have never seen a better performance from a driver with the limited professional experience of Steve. He must have felt immense pressure driving this expensive race car on these tight streets surrounded by concrete walls, all the while trying to impress his sponsors by running competitively. Steve certainly delivered beyond all expectations, and we are please that we will be able to continue to run Steve. It's such a feel good story to see a quick young guy who deserves a shot actually get the chance to show his skills."
